Jorge Prado achieved this Sunday the victory in the Indonesian Grand Prixwith what it comes with seventh win of the seasonand cut points from the World Cup leader, the Slovenian Tim Gajser.
Two weeks ago, Jorge Prado left the Italian Grand Prix ill after being involved in several crashes at the start, having to face the Asian tour with a 34-point disadvantage to Gajser.
On the Lombok track, the Spaniard wanted to turn his fortunes around and took his first revenge to try to reclaim the world championship leader’s red plaque.
In Indonesia, Jorge Prado achieved his seventh victory of the year and he did it showing great speed at all times on a particularly complex circuit.
Only three more World Cupsputting the Dutchman on that shortlist Jeffrey Herlings, whose excessive pride brought him to the ground once he had won the first round and was leading the second. Prado did the exact opposite, who finished second in the first and waited for his moment to dominate the second and make the Spanish anthem sound on the podium.
The general leader, Tim Gajser, showed her most vulnerable side. His rivals overtook him in the first race and in the second he crashed twice, unable to rise to fifth position. In fact, one of the falls happened when Prado overtook him and he hit the Galician’s motorcycle with his front wheel.
Gajser maintained the lead with 555 points, compared to Prado’s 533, who dropped twelve in one test.
“I am very happy with the weekend and my performance. It was very difficult because it was very hot, the track was very treacherous and because I had to come back after leaving the track in the first lap. I always have the goal of winning and it was a hard blow to abandon in Italy, but I’m recovered, I am fit and I have recovered quite a few points. Now it’s time to rest and continue training for the next test here in Indonesia,” said Prado, at the end of the test.
