Rins confirms the worst omen: he has to undergo surgery after a nasty fall in Assen

The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory rider Alex Rins He just confirmed through his social networks that this afternoon he will have to undergo surgery at the Ruber Internacional in Madrid where he was admitted since last night for “a quick fixation on my hand” as a result of the accident at the beginning of the race in Assen. The team has not yet confirmed his departure from the Sachsenring this weekend and is waiting until after the intervention this afternoon.


This Sunday, the Barcelona native suffered a heavy fall as he took the first corner in the Assen long race, a massive highside, when he was in the middle of the pack and went through the dirt on the outside. He started from 15th position on the grid.


The ’42’ sat on the side of the track for a few minutes to catch its breath after the massive impact. As reported by the team itself, the first medical results in Madrid indicate that Rins has a double fracture in his right wrist without displacement and a crack in his right foot that does not require surgery.

Rins is still running with plates and nails with which he repaired tibia and fibula fractures in his right leg from another massive accident at the 2023 Mugello Sprint Race and then required two operations in just 13 days. After all, he was still limping because of one of the nails sticking into a leg muscle.
