If happiness had a shape, it would probably be spherical. At least about the Euro Cup and not only because of the circle of balls, but because of something as everyday in the Iberian culture as a paella.
The one that traveled by truck from the City of Football to the German Black Forest was more than a meter in diameter to the delight of the players and coaching staff of the National Team, who with this container had a little piece of Spain which was present during their concentration in the Eurocup.
Those responsible for bringing such a source of flavor to German lands are Rodrigo Vargas, a chef for the national team for many years, together with the team’s head waiter, Ángel García, and his assistant Gonzalo López.
Days before the trip of the Spanish expedition to Germany, they thought of sending paella on the road that they use in all kinds of recipes, like black rice enhanced with characteristic products from this area of Germany.
Every morning and with the guidelines of the Nutrition Department of the RFEF, they visit local markets to find the freshest products where they can get close to traditional Spanish cuisine.
The secret ingredient is always “love”, as assured by Rodrigo, who is eager to stay with his two companions and their inseparable paella in Germany at least until the next 15th.
