The team MoneyGram Haas F1 made official this morning the signing, with a multi-year contract, of young British driver Oliver Bearman to compete with the American team in Formula 1 World Championship starting in 2025.
The member of Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy19 years old, is current official reserve driver of the Italian team while competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for Prema Racing.
Bearman took his first win of the season last weekend in Austria in the Sprint race to add to his tally of four wins from a stellar rookie season in 2023.
Bearman, in his additional role as reserve driver for Scuderia Ferrari, made a unforgettable Formula 1 debut in March in Saudi Arabia replacing Carlos Sainz, who had to undergo surgery for appendicitis, so it became the third youngest driver in Formula 1 history.
Bearman, already a regular on the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team (the only American team competing in Formula 1), participated in two FP1 sessions for the Kannapolis team in 2023, in Mexico and Abu Dhabi respectively, followed by a full day in VF-23 at the end-of-season test in Abu Dhabi.
