The Spanish men’s water polo team was defeated this Friday by 10-5 to Italy On the second day of Sardinia Cup occurring in the transalpine lands. In this way, they secured their second victory in the competition after a narrow victory over Croatia on the opening day.

It was in a match that replayed the semifinals of the last World Cup in Doha, then in an Italy that drained the Spanish team from the defense. The opposite happened this Friday, with a group of David Martin who was able to set the pace during the test period before the Paris Olympic Games.

Spain played a complete match in which it regained the hallmark that had cost it so much in the previous preparatory matches, the defense. From then on, he dominated for four quarters of the season to achieve what was surely his most convincing victory in this Olympic preparation window.

The first line took the reins in the attack for the Spanish team. Alvaro Granados and Felipe Perrone with three goals each and Bernat Sanahuja Together with the two, they led David Martín’s team. Spain also stopped the ‘totems’ of the Italian team, which already had a goal Francesco di Fulvio and another for Edoardo di Somma As it shows.

It was difficult for the Spanish team to enter the game in attack, because they saw how Di Fulvio led the transalpine team. however, Roger Tahull and Álvaro Granados converted the score in the last period of the first quarter.

This allowed the team to set the pace of the match. In the second set, Álvaro Granados and Felipe Perrone scored for the Spanish team, although among them was Luca Marziali who kept the transalpine team in the game to a 4-2 at half time.

They tried to pressure Italy with Alessandro Velotto’s goal in the third set, but the Spanish first line reappeared to take the stripes. Felipe Perrone, Bernat Sanahuja and Marc Larumbe put up 7-3 that left the track game for the national team. Edoardo di Somma tried to give Italy some life by reducing the gap to 7-4 with eight minutes remaining.

The choice is not much concerned about them. Bernat Sanahuja put in an almost certain 8-4. So, even though Velotto reduced the rents, Perrone and Granados dominated posting a clear 10-5 for the current European champions.

In this way, Spain added another prestigious victory in this Sardinia Cup after what was achieved the previous day against Croatia. This Saturday they will close their participation against Greece (18:45) with the desire to achieve absolute victory in the tournament.
