Inter announced its second signing: it came straight from the Euro Cup

Date:

It has been an open secret for weeks and now the signing has officially been announced by Inter Milan Piotr Zielinski. After his team’s participation in the European Championship in Germany, where they were eliminated in the group stage, the 30-year-old Polish midfielder signed a four-year contract with the new Serie A champions.

Zielinski arrived at the San Siro after ending his relationship with Naples on June 30, where he joined in 2016 and where his ranks have become one of the main pieces of Luciano Spalletti on winning the ‘scudetto’ in 2023, the first in 33 years in the club’s history.

“Class, character and plenty of experience in Serie A: Piotr Zielinski, the first Polish player in the history of Inter, is ready to show all his quality in the colors of the Nerazzurri,” Inter highlighted in its statement.

Zielinski moved to Italy from Poland at the age of 17 to join Udinese’s youth academy, where he made his Serie A debut in November 2012. He then spent two seasons on loan at Empoli between 2014 and 2016.

Zielinski He made his debut for Poland in June 2013 in a friendly against Liechtenstein. He has scored 12 goals in 93 games for his national team and has participated in three European Championships, including the current one in Germany, and two World Cups.

50 million euros have already been spent

Zielinski He is Inter’s second signing for the 2024-2025 season after the Iranian striker Mehdi Taremialso at zero transfer cost at the end of his contract with Porto.

However, Inter has already spent 50 million euros by activating the purchase clauses of three players it added last season on loan: Davide Frattesi, for whom it paid 29 million euros to Sassuolo, Charles Augustus (13 to Monza) and Marko Arnautovic (8 ‘kilo’ in Bologna).
