Evenepoel: “I regret the collapse of Roglic”

Date:

Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick Step), second overall in the Tour de France, lamented the fall and loss of 2:27 minutes from Slovenian Primoz Roglica direct rival for podium places.

“I regret the collapse of Roglic, You don’t want your direct opponent to experience something like that,” Evenepoel said after stepping off the podium and learning of Roglic’s time loss after falling 12 km from the finish line, far from the 5 km safety zone.

Evenepoel, second overall 1.06 behind the leader, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, hopes that “Roglic has recovered well and he can continue the race tomorrow.”

“You don’t want to go through that situation.”, and you don’t want this to happen to your direct rival either. That is why men in the general classification always fight for the best positions. Something can always happen. Fortunately, I was in the front row for the last 30 kilometers,” he explained.

With the fall, Roglic moved into sixth place overall, 4.42 minutes behind Pogacar.
