Uruguay made this Friday in Charlotte (North Carolina) the last training session before the final for third and fourth place against Canada, a few hours after the furious press conference of its coach, the Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.
La Celeste worked at the Matthews Sportsplex, outside of Charlotte, with a good atmosphere and with Darwin Núñez and José María Giménez normal to the group after Wednesday’s monumental battle after La Celeste’s semifinal defeat against Colombia.
Núñez and Giménez were among Uruguayan players who jumped into the stands and clashed with some Colombian fans, saying some fans had an aggressive attitude towards their relatives.
That event led to Bielsa’s powerful press conference, a few hours before training, where the coach attacked the stadium’s security services and the entire Copa América organization.
“How can you not defend your baby, your brother, your wife? What sanction are they talking about to me, what should be said is how long they will apologize,” said Bielsa.
“The reason that causes the reaction is part of the interpretation made by the reaction that is being analyzed. How can anyone ask if I am afraid of punishments, if the only logic that prevails is a mother with a baby in her arms , women, husbands , mother, attacked by the spectators,” added Bielsa.
