Enric Mas: “I have experienced it like a little child and I will keep trying”

Date:

Enrique Mas (Movistar), the hero of the day’s vacation who surrendered 9 km from the top of the Plateau de Beille, enjoyed the queen stage of the Pyrenees, but did not show much of the best version of himself intended he has to offer on this Tour.

“I have been able to enjoy it. I knew the stage quite well because it was close to where I lived. I experienced this as a child. It became a new world for me. It is not the best version of Enric Mas, and the sensations are not very good, but I will keep trying,” commented the Balearic cyclist at the finish line.

Mas got into the initial breakaway formed on the climb to the first pass of the day, Peyresourde, but on the final pass the battle between the favorites destroyed any illusions of victory.

“I was going for success from the first moment, but when it is not one, it is others who try to go for the stage. We started the climb with little time for an escape like that, and the Plateau de Beille was a very long climb. “We pushed hard, and we enjoyed the race, and the whole team was very good,” he commented.

With one week left in the Tour, Enric Mas announced that attempts at victories will continue in the last week of the Tour. “I’ll keep trying, there’s one more week. Tomorrow is Monday, rest; on Tuesday, to help Fernando Gaviria; and from there, everyone will search,” he concluded.

Enric Mas crossed the Plateau de Beille finish line in 15th place in 7.35 minutes, and overall he was in 22nd place in over an hour.
