The British Andy Murray will not participate in the tournament to the Queen because of a abdominal injurybut he hopes to arrive in time for Wimbledon.
The Scotsman reached the final of the Stuttgart tournament last week, where he felt discomfort in his stomach in the defeat against Matteo Berrettini.
Murray, two -time winner of Wimbledonwill not be able to enter this week to the Queen, a tournament he has won five times and in which he won doubles in 2019 with Feliciano López. The British tennis player is set to make his debut this Tuesday against the Italian Lorenzo Sonego.
“After undergoing a scan this afternoon, we found out that I had a stomach injury that I wouldn’t allow to play at Queen’s. This tournament means a lot to me and it’s embarrassing that I can’t play, especially after the great games I played on the lawn, ”Murray said.
His departure from the Queen’s was also a blow to the Briton’s hopes of being seeded at Wimbledon. So far, Murray is number 47 in the world, but, with a good participation in the tournament in London, along with the loss of the Russians and Belarusians, along with last -minute absences, he could climb to get into the top 32.
The purpose of Murray will play an exhibition next week and arrive in perfect condition at Wimbledon, where he was winner in 2013 and 2016.
