Javier Romo (Movistar) commented at the finish line in Nîmes that his team “will continue to look for a stage win” in the coming days, even if the fatigue with five days left “is already noticeable.”
“I’m happy with the sensations I’m having in my Tour debut, but we are tired. There are some important stages left, but if everything goes normally I will definitely reach Nice,” said the cyclist from Villafranca de los Caballeros (Toledo) at the finish line.
Before the remaining stages, from this Thursday with a mid-mountain profile, and until Sunday, with days with complex climbs, the Movistar rider hopes that his team will have the opportunity to break his locker. “The Tour is not over and the team, whether with Oier Lazkano, Alex Aranburu or any of us, will be looking for success in the remaining stages,” he said.
Regarding his impressions of the Tour in his debut year, Romo highlighted the great experience of racing in the ‘Grande Boucle’. “It’s too early to make a global assessment, but the Tour is obviously very good and the experience of being here is incredible,” he commented.
Regarding the option to compete with the greats of the general classification, such as Slovenian leader Tadej Pogacar, the Movistar cyclist is in good shape. “Next to those runners we can only be in the neutralized zone”he concluded.
