Villarreal lost to Leicester (1-2) in an atypical preseason debut, as the match was held behind closed doors, at Camille Fournier (Paris), and consisted of four 30-minute halves.
Neither the Castellón club nor the English club offered details of the match, which was described as a simple training session of the two, so the coaches made many changes in each of the stages.
The main attraction of the match for the Castellón team, in addition to the debut of several young players, was the return after months of injury of Yéremy Pino and Juan Foyth.
The Villarreal coach, Marcelino García Toral, started with a lineup composed of Jorgensen; Kiko Femenía, Albiol, Cuenca; Parejo, Arnau Sola, Yeremy Pino, Pau Cabanes, Alassane, Haissem and Sorloth.
Vardy put the English team ahead, but Villarreal equalized with an own goal from Ndidi, while Coady scored the winning goal for Leicester.
The next day on the 24th, Villarreal will play their second preseason friendly, this time against Sion, at 7:30 pm, at the Eugène Parlier in Montreux (Switzerland).
Yeremi Pino’s emotional message

“8 months have passed after my first operation… I’m don’t think I’m back, I can only thank everyone who helped me in this process! A lot of work in silence and finally I can enjoy I like. most… Groguets let’s start,” he wrote on his Instagram account.
