The Italian Matteo Berrettini achieved victory in the contest de Gstaad (Switzerland) by defeating the Frenchman 6-3 and 6-1 in the final Quentin Halysfor one hour and one minute, in a match that was cut short in the first set due to heavy rain that poured into the playing venue.
Berrettini, number 82 in the ATP ranking, reached the final after eliminating Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the first seed, in the semifinal, whom he had not beaten in his four previous meetings.
In the final, the Italian tennis player had a 78% success rate on the first serve, reached 90% of points won on the first serve and reached twenty-two winning strokes to ten for the Frenchman.
This is the ninth ATP title for Berrettini, who achieved his first in 2018 certainly in Gstaad – where he was also a finalist in 2022 – and the second in 2024 after the one he won in Marrakech (Morocco) in April. For Halys this is his first final on the ATP circuit.
