Warning level “Orange” – heavy thunderstorms moving over Tyrol: 120 missions

In parts of Tyrol it rained on Sunday evening. After a summer day a heavy storm front moved over Tyrol from west to east, sometimes with hail. Geosphere Austria has issued the warning level “orange”.

Thunderstorm warning for Tyrol, Geosphere Austria has issued the warning level “orange”. In some places it was already raining, and around 17:20 the rain poured down like a downpour over Jenbach – including hail. However, no major storms have occurred so far.

Schwaz is a hotspot
“The current hotspot is in the town of Schwaz,” the Leiststelle Tirol informs, “cellars are flooded, trees have fallen and there have also been landslides. But nothing serious has happened so far.” By early evening, there had already been a total of 120 missions. A resident confirms: “Here, one siren after another sounded!”

Meanwhile, the Fügen volunteer fire brigade had to deal with a stroke of luck in the early evening on Hochfügener Straße above the train station. “On Fügenberg we had to deal with several gusts of wind,” said the Fügen volunteer fire brigade. The Zillertal was particularly affected by the storm.

There were already several mudslides on Friday, which led to road closures.
