Argentine international attacker Erik Lamela, a Sevilla footballer for the last three seasons, signed this Sunday a contract for the next three seasons, until June 30, 2027, with AEK Atenas led by his compatriot Matías Almeyda, as announced by the Greek club.
After passing the medical examination, he formalized his contract, toured his new stadium, posed with a t-shirt bearing the number ‘9’ and set his team’s goal for the new season as “to be champions,” according to his new team.
At 32 years old, after playing for Roma (2011-12 and 2012-13) and Tottenham (from 2013-14 to 2020-21), in addition to Sevilla, AEK is the new destination for the Buenos Aires player, who emerged from the River Plate youth team, where he debuted at the age of 17, before jumping to Europe, when Roma paid 17.2 million euros for his transfer in 2011.
In his two years at Roma he played 67 games with 21 goals, so Tottenham signed him for the 2013-14 season in exchange for 30 million euros. At the London club, during his eight years he reached 257 duels, 142 as a starter, with 37 goals and 41 assists, before heading to Sevilla in 2021, with 91 matches and sixteen goals.
