He Girona bound against him Liverpool On the last day of the initial phase of Youth League. The Catalans, unbeaten in six European events and with qualification in their pocket after a draw in the previous match, shared the cake against some English players who staked it all to advance to the second round of the tournament.

Nothing started as ‘gironin’ expected. The first half, with a more dominant version of the ‘reds’, ended with a goal from Danns after half an hour of play after Jordana’s penalty against Ngumoha. The visiting star did not hesitate from the eleven meters and advanced to his team (32′), although the theme changed completely.

And, minutes later, Young was sent off for a hard tackle on Silvero’s ankle, using the heels of his boot. Liverpool were left with one less man and that helped Girona gain confidence and start offering answers in a new game.

After the break, a cross shot by Tren bounced off the Girona crossbar, causing some doubts among the locals, but the mentality and effort of the men led by Sergio Mora prevailed on the Camp Municipal de Olot pitch.

From there, a new penalty loomed so Arango, who took the highest penalty, scored on his own against Misciur (49′). Automatically then, two more actions for the ‘blanc-i-vermells’, who began to control the match for most of the rest of the game.

The effort, however, was saved for Coromina, who scored the great goal of the afternoon with a long-range shot that went violently into the far corner (59′). Far from confining themselves, the Catalans continued to charge, taking advantage of their numerical superiority, which gave way to more threats and the injury of Arango who, after failing a good personal action, slipped and noticed the a hole. The striker had to be replaced, leaving one of the pictures of the match, crying uncontrollably for several minutes.

A new surprise, however, came a few minutes after reaching the end. A wonderful long pass lands on the boot of Trent, who wins the game in a duel through defense and finishes with great personality (84′). Despite not having enough popularity to win the award, Liverpool showed decisive success.

The locals attacked and did not stop pressing with good actions that were short-lived, until the last moment of injury time with a shot from Enric Garcia, but Mohammed Al-Emara decided the end of the event.
