How does the Graz Borg Dreierschützengasse go after the murder on 10 June? With a critical open letter, more than a hundred parents spoke in the past week. After a big meeting, including with representatives from the ministry, you are now positive: “It is going in the right direction.”
“10 June 2025, our school community has shaken in a way that nobody – and certainly not a young person – should ever experience,” said the letter from the Parents’ Association, which was addressed to the highest political bodies. “There must be no, again normal, because the old, normal ‘no longer exists. No rapid recordings or hasty renovations – but measures that are compatible with the healing process.”
The letter hit Waves in Austria, the Ministry of Education under Christoph Return (Neos), the subject was in charge. A steering committee has been set up in which, in addition to the educational directorate and experts, the entire school community and who will work after the summer.

“Clear guidelines and support measures” will be developed for the coming school year, including “organizational processes and pedagogical, school law and psychological accompanying measures”. The shifting of the school start desired by the parents is not excluded. A security concept for the Dreienschützengasse Borg is also being developed. “From the ground of my heart, we want to be professionally accompanying, security, stability and perspectives – for everyone who is affected,” says education director Elisabeth Mixner.
“Get in an extremely good direction”
The “krone” spoke with Alexandra Mauthner-Resnik of the Parents’ Association, which was present during the first meeting of the New Advisory Board: “Mrs Wagner (head of General Education in the Ministry of Education, Note) and Mr. Netzer (General Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Note) have given good direction.
There is also a statement compared to the “krone” of school spokesperson Ennio Resnik: “The students now enjoy a holiday program that is taken over by former students from our secondary school. They now wish a quiet summer. Moreover, the requirements and requests are just collected and evaluated by us for the following year.” Among them are very clear demands on politics: “On the one hand we now need a strongly sharpened arms law, and on the other, major changes in the education system,” said Resnik.
