First world record at the Paris Games

South Korean Lim Sihyeon, 21, opened the season for Olympic and world records at these Paris Games by completing 694 points in archery in the qualifying round, the best score by a woman in history.

In this Thursday’s session held at the Invalides esplanade, Lim Sihyeon achieved the record at 70 meters with 72 arrows. Her 694 points betters the current world record by two and the Olympic record by 14, held by fellow Koreans Kang Chaeyoung in 2019 and An San in 2021, respectively.

Sihyeon, currently world number two, holds a team gold medal at the 2023 world championships and a solo bronze in the same year.

The South Korean, a potential rival in the round of 16 of the Spanish Elia Canales in the final stage of the Olympic Games, He has an impressive duel win percentage (89%) and a score of 9.4 out of 10 for each arrow shot.
