Spain 1×1 against Australia

Date:

Spain fell to Australia (92-80) in the first game of the Olympic Games. Scariolo’s men found no regulars or resources to fight the tough and physical Oceanians. Here’s how we saw the Spanish players perform:

Lorenzo Brown

A stranger

He did not have the success or confidence to contribute in attack, which weighed down the game of the National Team. His 3-of-10 shooting from the field speaks for itself.

Rudy Fernandez

Historical

He spent 17 minutes on the court, providing above all defense and intensity, enough to make him a record man for his presence in what will be his sixth Olympic Games.

Xabi López-Arostegui

Overcome

He did not reach the rival’s intensity and did not contribute to the attack.

Santi Aldama

Triple jumper

He didn’t score two-pointers but he made up for it with his good performance in long shots, totaling 6 of 8 and converting free throws, many of which were a product of his shooting threat.

Dario Brizuela

unnoticed

He was only on the court for 5 minutes where he only scored one basket after an offensive rebound.

Alberto Diaz

No effect

His defense of Mills did not change the opponent’s level of play nor did he contribute to the attack.

Juancho Hernangomez

getting lost

They are missing more baskets and his attacking threat. This helped somewhat to solve the rebound problems but it was not enough.

Usman Garuba

Not balanced

The provocations of the Australians and the unsporting behavior reported in the first quarter may have conditioned their usually strong contribution.

Alex Abrines

Punctual

He appeared in several situations where he was needed in attack, later contributing only in defense and returning assists.

Sergio Llull

Disgusting

He tried to change the dynamic of the game with his long-range baskets but it wasn’t enough.
