After confirming the removal of Bruno Famin of the French team, Alpine announced Wednesday the arrival of its new team director.
The former British pilot Oliver Oakes36, has been confirmed as the team’s new boss BWT Alpine F1 Teammaking him the second youngest to take up this position in Formula 1. Oakes will begin his duties as the team’s new director after the summer break.
“I am very grateful to Luca de Meo [CEO de Renault] and Flavio Briatore for this opportunity to bring the BWT Alpine F1 Team back to competition level. The team has great people and great resources, and I’m sure we’ll achieve great things in the rest of this campaign and in the long run. I hope to start after the summer holidays.”Oakes said in the French team’s official statement.
With the arrival of the Briton at the head of the Alpine team, moves continue to be made to renew the team’s structure. Flavio Briatore also joined the French team as an executive advisor in June.
