Cindy Ngamba, first medal in history for the refugee Olympic team

Date:

The boxer Cindy Ngamba provides first medal for the Olympic refugee team since she started competing in 2016 after defeating French Davina Michel in the quarterfinals of the category -75 kilos from the Paris Games. The Cameroonian will at least win the bronze.

Panamanian boxer Atheyna Bylon, who made history in her country by becoming the first female Olympic medalist, will be her rival on August 8 for a spot in the final.

Cindy Winner, Djankeu Ngamba, as her full name is, came to the United Kingdom fleeing her country, Cameroon, with refugee status with her family at the age of 11.

A self-proclaimed homosexual since the age of 18, the young woman said she suffered bullying as a child because she did not know how to speak English well, because of her weight and body odor.

Then, two teachers encouraged her to play sports and the young woman took refuge first in soccer and then in boxing.
