After a short break of 10 days, Team Suzuki Ecstar will be back on track this weekend with the good news that after undergoing medical examinations, Alex Rins has received temporary approval from his doctor to drive, although ‘ t this Thursday he will have to find the official ‘fit’ in the Sachsenring.
At the last Catalan GP, after a horrible fall that separated him from the race in the first corner courtesy of Japanese mistake Taka Nakagami, Rins was diagnosed with a pyramidal fracture bone of his left wrist and ankle injury. .
He started a program of electromagnetic therapy, anti-inflammatory medication, and also used a wrist brace. This Wednesday after the last medical check-up with Dr. Xavier Mir at Quirón-Dexeus in Barcelona, Rins decided to travel to the Sachsenring.
“Alex Rins visited me before traveling to Germany to assess the shape of his wrist, we did some tests and the fracture looked fine, but it hasn’t healed yet. It’s not moving yet and it’s living. Alex wants to try to run, but you may need some painkillers and physiotherapy these days, ”explains Dr. Mir via Suzuki Ecstar statement.
This Thursday, Rins will have to hand over the final official controls with MotoGP’s medical director, Dr. Ángel Charte, and the medical director of the Sachsenring circuit, who will make the final decision on whether to declare him career-worthy or not.
“This last week, I’ve been working hard to try to rehabilitate my wrist as much as possible. Following the doctors’ advice, I followed a recovery program and I tried to gain mobility and reduce pain. Hopefully I will arrive safely in Germany, and on Thursday I will undergo the final medical examinations with the MotoGP doctors on the circuit so they can tell me if I am fit to ride or not … and if I will do I do it! ” Alex explained.
On the other side of the box, Joan Mir arrived at the Sachsenring after a spectacular return to Catalunya’s career, from 17th on the grid to fourth in the final
“Sachsenring is a really fun circuit to ride, it’s slow and narrow but it suits our bike quite well. It’s always a challenge but I’ve had some good results here in the past and I hope to enjoy Sunday. The test we did after The Catalan GP has given me a boost of confidence and I really hope to practice some of what we have learned and see how it can help us for the next careers ”.
