France punishes Olympian for unacceptable racist tweets

Date:

The French Athletics Federation temporarily suspended the Olympic athlete Muhammad Abdallah Kounta, 400 meter specialist and member of the French 4×400 meter and mixed 4×400 meter team, following the discovery of a series of pro-Hamas and anti-white comments on social networks classified as “inciting hatred.”

“The president of the French Athletics Federation confirmed to me that he suspended the athlete, he contacted the Public Ministry and the Disciplinary Commission of the Federation,” said the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Casteraat X. Y described the messages and posts specifically directed at Israel as “shocking because they are unacceptable.”

Messages posted by Kounta have been deleted. But there are screenshots collected by the account @swordOfSalomon, with courtesies at the level of “if a man lets his wife go to a gynecologist, she has no dignity” or “Believers (for Muslims ), do not take them as allies. ” Among the Jews and Christians, they are allies of each other. And whoever of you takes them as allies will be one of them. He also describes France, the country he represents as an athlete, as “soufFrance” (a play on French words between suffering and France).

After deactivating his X account, Kounta reactivated it to post an apology message in which he introduced himself as “French, Muslim and proud.”

“People have enjoyed scrutinizing my tweets and taking some of my comments out of context, earning me a reputation as anti-white, anti-French, anti-Semitic, etc. I sincerely apologize if anyone was offended. “I am against genocides and any form of racism or injustice, and I believe that I don’t need to show how much I love my country,” the athlete wrote.

This is not the only case that has come to light within the French team due to unacceptable comments made online years ago. Homophobic, racist and anti-Semitic messages were published ten years ago by the innkeeper Hugo Hay, who also participated in the 5,000 meters final at the 2024 Olympic Games, and so far there is no suspension against him.
