Foreign spider and reptile species are increasing in Carinthia. The “Kroon” spoke with expert Helga Happ about the incident.
With the increasing heat periods and high temperatures, more strange animals are at home in Carinthia. Exotic spiders in particular have discovered and remained Carinthia in recent years.
One of them is the Nosferatu Spider, who was spotted in Carinthia for the first time two years ago. Especially in the summer the limbs feel comfortable in the gardens. In the winter they are looking for protection in the houses – as in January in Waidmannsdorf, where there was even a plague of the eight -sucked friends (we reported).
Another kind that is already familiar with a lot of carint: the waspspider. She also came from South Europe to Carinthia. “The eight -sucked friends are real recycled artists. Before their bodies have been rotten, this is eaten by the colleague species, for example at the mating, because the man then dies,” Helga Happ explains the Reptile Zoo with the same name in Klagenfurt.
But other types, such as the Doornstin and the black widow, are also seen more often in Carinthia.
Although exotic snakes in the wild nature of Carinthia could not yet be detected, another reptile spreads in the waters. “The Redwangen and Yellow Belly Turtles are slowly becoming a real nuisance. They endanger biodiversity in the waters,” the expert explains in an interview with the “Carinthian Krone”. The animal, which is actually in North America, is spreading in particular in the Klagenfurt of Lend Canal.
Although many types of spider and reptiles are not toxic, Happ advises caution: “Some animals can still cause pain in the case of a bite.”
