Czech tennis player Barbora Krejcikovachampion of the last edition of Wimbledon, joked on Saturday that the funnest thing about winning that ‘big one’ was dancing with the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz following the British tournament tradition.
“Good question (smiles). The most fun. I would say dancing with Carlos“said the Czech, laughing, to a question at a United States Open press conference about “what’s the funnest thing about being a Wimbledon champion.”
“I think we did a good job. I don’t think either of them are very good dancers. I suppose that as a Spaniard he should be better than the Czechs (…). I think the dance is beautiful. I really enjoyed it. “I love traditions and it’s a great Wimbledon tradition so I’m happy we danced together and enjoyed the night,” he added.
Alcaraz and Krejcikova, the winners of the last edition of Wimbledon, danced together at the Champions Dinner, a tradition repeated every year at the end of this ‘grand slam’.
A video fragment of that moment went viral on social networks.
Number 8 in the WTA ranking, Krejcikova will debut in the first round of the US Open against the Spanish Marina Bassols Ribera (n.181), who will debut that match in a ‘grand slam’.
