Christian Eriksen it’s back. Nearly a year after the deadly June 12, 2021, when he collapsed due to cardiac arrest in a Denmark-Finland match at Euro 2020, the Danish midfielder will once again wear the Nordic team’s shirt in an official match, measured against France this Friday in the Nations League.
He showed up again at his choice in March in a sociable in between Netherlands Y Denmark sa amsterdam, a duel that ended 4-2 and in which he still scored off the bench after the break. Three days later, in the same scenario in which he had a heart failure, he saw the door again Denmark-Serbia (3-0).
Eriksen remembered that had a “complex” moment which he considered outdone and insisted he was “very happy” that he had returned to the Danish team.
“The first miracle was that the medical team saved me”, replied the Brentford midfielder, when asked about his surprising return to the first level of competition, both at his current British club and at his national team, to which he returned in March of this year.
“I’ve talked a lot with doctors and they saw nothing stopping me from playing (…) It was hard last year, but I’m so happy to be back, ”said the 30-year-old athlete who plays with an implantable automatic defibrillator (ICD).
