The Tour of Spain this past week received the last member of the exclusive club of winners at three Grand Tours of road cycling. Upon entry of Ben O’Connorthe red jersey of the Spanish test arrived on the first day of the break, there is now a total 111 cyclists Throughout history, those who have managed to win at least one stage in each of the three major road cycling events.
In 2024 there were five new additions to this list, including Australian from AG2R. These are names with many traditions: Tadej Pogacar, Julian Alaphilippe, Remco Evenepoel, Richard Carapaz and O’Connor himself. But the list is very long and was inaugurated on April 29, 1955, by the Italian Fiorenzo Magni. The second, just one month later, was Spanish Bernardo Ruizalong with two other Hispanics within the top ten to achieve this: Miguel Poblet (5) and Federico Martin Bahamontes (8).
