The Swedish midfielder Kristoffer Olssonwho was hospitalized in February for a rare inflammatory disease of the cerebral vessels, has returned home after six months of treatment, he announced on Instagram. On February 20, the Danish club international FC Midtjylland (FCM) passed out at home before being transferred to Aarhus University Hospital, where he was put on a respirator. A month later, he entered a rehabilitation center.
Tests showed that he had suffered multiple blood clots in his brain which caused him to lose his speech and motor function. “After six months, I’m home,” she wrote Monday night on Instagram in the caption of a photo showing her standing with suitcases. The 29-year-old, who regained the use of speech and motor function in mid-April, said in the spring that he plans to play professionally again.
Neither he nor his club have published a timetable for his return. When FCM won the Danish championship at the end of May, they arrived on the field in a cart carrying the trophy to the cheers of the crowd.
Originally from Norrköping (eastern Sweden) and father of one son, Olsson made his debut in 2013 with London club Arsenal. He then played for FCM and AIK (Stockholm), then Krasnodar (Russia) and Anderlecht (Belgium) before rejoining FCM in the summer of 2023.
