It’s Wednesday and that means the second round of the US Open is about to begin. The favorites at the bottom of the draw, both in the men’s and women’s draws, are looking to advance in the tournament and not join the list of seeds that have already packed their bags.
Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff or Paula Badosa are some of the stars that will take to the track to confirm the good feelings (more than others) that they conveyed on Monday in their debut.
These are the most famous battles of the day:
1
Novak Djokovic – Laslo Djere
Arthur Ashe Runway (about 3am)
Second round for Novak Djokovic in this US Open. He faces his compatriot Laslo Djere, a clearly underrated player but last year was on the verge of taking him home in the third round. We will see if the Olympic champion can continue to show the good level of the day of his debut.

2
Taylor Fritz – Matteo Berrettini
Louis Armstrong Track (about 3am)
Duel of titans on the Arthur Ashe track. Taylor Fritz and Matteo Berrettini star in the most evenly contested match of the day, a match that could later turn into an all-out quarterfinal. The American is looking to get rid of the bad taste in his mouth after a bad tour in Montreal and Cincinnati, while the Italian continues his long road to return to the elite after a real test due to injuries.

3
Casper Ruud – Gael Monfils
Grandstand runway (about 00h)
Pure and simple spectacle is guaranteed by Casper Ruud and Gael Monfils, two players who are not at the peak of their careers but are capable of anything when they are in shape, which seems to be the case.

4
Paula Badosa – Taylor Townsend
Louis Armstrong Track (17h)
New opportunity to see Paula Badosa in action. After his massive debut against Golubic, the Catalan is looking for a third round against an opponent who is on fire after reaching the quarterfinals in Toronto and the round of 16 in Cincinnati.

5
Aryna Sabalenka – Lucia Bronzetti
Louis Armstrong Track (about 10pm)
Aryna Sabalenka is probably the top favorite for the title. After winning in Cincinnati, the Belarusian got off to a good start, defeating Hon in the first round. Luzia Bronzetti, just before Lulu Sun’s withdrawal on Monday, crossed her path, in a fight where she had little to gain and much to lose.
