Jake Dixon is back to winning ways on a bad day for some favourites

Date:

Jake Dixon is still on a roll. For the third race in a row the Briton finishes on the podium and this is the secondly doing it above. The Aspar team driver defended the pole position tooth and nail and won a good duel against Tony full in the Moto2 race at Aragon. Önü closed the podium.

About the fight for the title, the leader of the World Cup Sergio García left MotorLand with zero in his locker after retiring due to physical problems. Ogura cut eight points but other rivals such as Fermín Aldeguer or Joe Roberts They didn’t take advantage of their bad day and ended up on the ground in an inexplicable way.

At the start, the eyes were on the top positions but also on what Sergio García was capable of starting from 29th place. It was a clean start for Dixon from pole but a disaster for Canet, who started third. His bike lifted and he lost third position, eventually he crashed in turn 7, fell on the back, and in turn nine he landed on his ears.

The one with the perfect start is Fermín Aldeguer. The Speed-Up driver climbed from 11th place to the podium positions. His teammate Alonso López, who led all the free practice sessions, was also close behind the group in sixth position.

Aldeguer’s mistake and Sergio García’s departure

With 16 laps remaining, Arbolino took the lead but was unable to break away and Dixon reversed the move two laps later. The group is seven drivers down with 13 laps remaining in FErmín Aldeguer made a mistake in the rush and when trying to pass Oncü he fell to the ground. The golden opportunity to stay in the fight for the championship was lost.

From there the group stretched with Dixon and Arbolino in the lead with Alonso López in third two seconds out of contention. At the back, Sergio García retired because he was too slow due to his physical problems with his shoulder. It’s not worth more risk.

Dixon’s sentence

The race entered a moment of tense calm without much happening. Roberts held Vietti and the Italian missed the chance to get a good result and extend the streak. Behind, Ogura is climbing positions to cut points from his teammate and World Cup leader Sergio García

There are three more laps Dixon pushed on and set the fastest lap to get away from Arbolino and go straight to his second victory of the season and third straight podium. Behind him, Öncü overtook Alonso López and settled for third position to achieve his first podium in the intermediate category.

Alonso López and Manu González are the TOP5 just ahead of Chantra, who is competing in a GP for the first time after the announcement that he will move up to MotoGP next year. Ai Ogura finally took advantage of Roberts’ last-lap crash to finish eighth and shave eight points in the fight for the title.

Sergio García maintains a 12-point lead over his Japanese teammate from MT Helments MSI. Alonso López finished third in the race, just 29 points behind his compatriot.
