Daniel Molina: “No one knows the work behind it”

Date:

Daniel Molina made his dream come true this Monday. He was proclaimed Paralympic triathlon champion in the PTS3 class at the Paris Games where he first controlled and then finished the race. This is to sign the ‘Triple Crown’ in an outstanding record.

His satisfaction with the success achieved was justified. “I had to wait twenty years to live in this moment. We worked a lot, there were good times and bad times. Some were very difficult to see how other athletes came to the Games and we stayed at home,” he said .

In fact, he was at the 2004 Athens Games in swimming, but since then he has not qualified for the Games again. He tried triathlon, a sport in which the inclusion of his class for the first time in these Games in Paris opened doors for him to participate. Five-time world champion and six-time European champion, he never missed his chance.

“When my coach caught me, I told him that I wanted to be world and Olympic champion. We did everything he told me and he told me that, if I do it, I will be champion,” Molina revealed. “It has been seven years of working. Nobody knows what I have worked for, what I have suffered, what I have cried. It is the happiest day of my sporting life and I am going to celebrate it as it deserves,” he said .

This is because the racing strategy is perfect. “We had a margin of time to lose on the bike, because running is what I do best. Everyone is trying to give me as much time as possible on the bike and that requires breaking down. My coach told me that with a 40 second deficit I was done and it was “the person I trust the most who knows me very well,” Molina revealed. “He told me that if I did everything he told me I would win,” pg – he admitted.

Molina had the luxury of enjoying his success in a big way. “There was a place full of Spaniards shouting. Then I took the curve and I knew that my rivals were coming far behind. I got out all the anger, all the joy, all the happiness,” he said. “No one knows the work behind it. My wife knows it, so does my coach. I came to win gold,” he said.

He did it on a day where he surprised his family, who had planned to return to Spain this Monday as the race was scheduled for Sunday, by standing in a stand. It was another shot of energy for Molina who was comfortable with Sena, who managed his nerves perfectly and behaved better than anyone to become champion.
