The organization company of the world motorcycle championship, the Spanish Dorna Sports and the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM)owner of championship rights, negotiated the renewal of the agreement between both parties until 2060.
The long-term renewal of their agreement secures the rights to the motorcycle world championship and all FIM World Championships managed by Dorna.
The Spanish company took over the promotion rights for the Motorcycle World Championship for the first time in 1992. and, together with the Teams Association (IRTA) and the Manufacturers Association (MSMA), the union between the FIM and Dorna thus reinforces the continuity of MotoGP.
The FIM World Championships considered under this agreement include the Superbike World Championship from 2015, the FIM Enel MotoE World Championship from 2019, the FIM JuniorGP World Championship from 2019 and the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship from 2023 .
The Portuguese Jorge Viegas, president of the FIM, said in a press release that “this is an incredibly important moment that gives clarity and long-term security to the sport of motorcycling” and that “This is not only important for everyone directly involved in MotoGP, but also for the motorcycle community in general.which benefits from the global status, value and existence of this relationship.”
Carmelo EzpeletaCEO of Dorna Sports, owner of MotoGP rights, expressed his pride in “announcing this agreement with the FIM”, a “fantastic news for the sport”and for fans around the world, “because the fact that this association has its guaranteed continuity allows us to build something truly special so that this sport continues to grow even more, ” he highlighted.
“The ability to reach such a long-term agreement adds incredible value to MotoGP in the current landscape of sport and entertainment, because the level of consensus we enjoy in MotoGP is something we are privileged to be a part of, and lays a fantastic foundation for our sport to continue its growth,” added Ezpeleta.
