On August 25, at Iconic Auctioneers, a world-class auction house specializing in cars, motorcycles and automotive collectibles formerly known as Silverstone Auctions, Two historic Ducati and MotoGP motorcycles are up for auction.
Both the Loris Capirossi’s Ducati Desmosedici GP03prototype with which those from Borgo Panigale debuted in the main motorcycling category, such as Ducati Desmosedici GP7motorcycle where Casey Stoner secured the first MotoGP title for the Italian factorythey changed owners.
For now though the identity of the new owner is unknown -knowing that he is a rich collector-, 240,000 euros were paid for the Capirossi prototype and for Australian 477,000 euros. Both in perfect working order, were auctioned unsuccessfully in April.
Ducati Desmosedici GP 03
After the change in regulations that gave rise to the new MotoGP category in 2002, Ducati has announced its return to the top category of the World Championship after a thirty-year absence.
Designed by Filippo Preziosi and entrusted to Loris Capirossi and Troy Bayliss, the Desmosedici GP03 proved to be a very powerful motorcycle thanks to its liquid-cooled four-stroke engine and desmodromic distribution.
Immediately competing, Capirossi qualified on the front line and took his #65 bike to the podium in the first race of the seasonwhich took place in Japan, at the Suzuka circuit.
In the sixth race of the season, on the circuit of Catalonia, Loris took the checkered flag ahead of the rest of the pelotonwhich scored the first victory for the Desmosedici.
Thanks also to his colleague Bayliss, Ducati achieved an honorable second place in the classification of manufacturers in his first season in MotoGP.

Ducati Desmosedici GP 07
Just four years after his return to the MotoGP World Championship, Ducati achieved the rare feat of winning both the manufacturers’ and drivers’ titles.
In 2007, the MotoGP regulations reduced the maximum permissible displacement to 800 cc and Ducati responded with a new version of its Desmosedici.
A new pilot also joined the new project: young Australian Casey Stoner He joins Loris Capirossi to complete the official team driving the Desmosedici GP07.
In his first season with the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, Casey won ten races and added four more podiums, accumulating the points needed to win the 2007 drivers’ title. and give Ducati its first MotoGP Constructors’ Championship.
