UEFA has imposed a two-match ban on West Ham midfielder Declan Rice as a result of his dispute with Extremaduran referee Jesús Gil Manzano after being eliminated in the Europa League semi-finals against Eintracht Frankfurt.
On May 5, Rice, out of frustration, appeared in a video addressing Gil Manzano, accusing him of being “corrupt.” “Referee, referee. You’ve been so bad all night. So bad, so bad. How could you do it so badly?”
David Moyes and Aaron Cresswell, manager and defender of West Ham, were sent off in the semi-final second leg defeat to Eintracht (1-0) and suspended by UEFA for one game. In the first leg the Germans also won 1-2 at London Stadium.
For its part, West Ham were fined 1,700 euros for lighting fireworks by its fans in the game in question
