The Spanish Jorge Prado (GasGas), the defending champion, won this Sunday the Turkish Grand Prix, held at the Afyonkarahisar circuit, allowing him to come within 14 points of the leader of the World Championship in the premier motocross category (MXGP), the Slovenian Tim Gajser (Honda), who finished second.
Prado took the victory in Turkey with a third place in the first race and a victory in the second. This is Lugo’s ninth victory in a grand prix in 2024.
The swiss Jeremy Seewer (Kawasaki) dominated the first race from the start and finished ahead of the Frenchman Maxime Renaux (Yamaha) and Jorge Prado and with Gajser in fourth place. The Galician deducted points from the Slovenian.
In the second race, Jorge Prado set the pace and took the win ahead of Tim Gajser and Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings.
After the Turkish Grand Prix and with two events remaining (China and Spain), Herlings remains in the lead, now with 910 points, 14 more than Jorge Prado, who arrived at the Afyonkarahisar track with a deficit of 19 units.
