Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall have shown that they are a pair worth gold, by both reaching the top of the podium in Paris 2024 Games.
The American couple achieved an unprecedented feat; Come ongold in the long jump during the Olympics and Hunter at 400 meters T62 at Paralympics.
However, their mutual support garnered global attention, overshadowing even the impact of their medals.
On August 8, Hunter shouted to his wife from the stands: “You did it!” when Tara won gold in the long jump.
The athlete ran to celebrate with his wife in an emotional hug that moved the world.
This Friday, Hunter’s winning roles were reversed, and both reunited in the iconic hug that has become a symbol of love at these Games.
The American recorded a time of 46.36 seconds and beat the world record holder, the German Johannes Floorswho achieved a time of 46.90 seconds.
Excited after her race, she commented that sharing these moments with the person she loves is “more than a dream come true.”
“Tara taught me a lot,” she explained to the press after the test, with her husband by her side.
“I was very nervous. It was our dream to win gold and now we have achieved it. We will use these golds for the rest of our lives,” said Tara tearfully.
A love born on the path
Their story began in 2017 at a college track meet in Arkansas, where Hunter was competing as a Paralympic athlete and Tara was a standout in the long jump.
The couple got married in October 2022 and since then, their relationship has grown alongside their sporting achievements.

Hunter Woodhall’s journey has been easy. He was born with a condition called fibular hemimelia, which is characterized by the absence of fibula in the legs.
When he was a few months old, doctors decided to amputate both legs below the knee.
Because of this, he suffered bullying at school, but found refuge in sport, which eventually led him to become an outstanding Paralympic athlete.
With an excellent track record, he has accumulated two bronzes at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 in the same distance.
