A Hungarian (50) drove with his partner (47) in the car to a boat landing stage in Reichersberg, Upper Austria on Monday afternoon. The couple reportedly wanted to feed ducks there. However, a few things went wrong, causing the car with the two of them to suddenly roll into the inn and sink.
The Hungarian couple, who live in Reicherberg, were driving along the Auweg municipal road to the boat landing stage around 4 p.m. on Monday. Apparently, they were planning to feed ducks there.
For some unknown reason, the woman suddenly started the engine of the car, which was already parked, causing it to drive uncontrolled into the inn. Fortunately, both were able to free themselves from the sinking car unharmed and save themselves on the bank. There they raised the alarm.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and recovered the car, which was submerged up to the roof, as well as a damaged fishing boat.
An alcohol test was positive for both (respectively slightly more than one per mille and more than 0.6 per mille). The Hungarian has since lost his driver’s license; the woman did not have one. Both are shown.
