Oier Lazkano, who played for Movistar for three seasons, has signed for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohethe German team confirmed in a statement.
The 24-year-old runner from Vitoria Spanish road champion in 2023 and time trial runner-up in the same yearhas record victories in the Tour of Portugal, Tour of Wallonia, Vuelta a Burgos or Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, as well as the podium in Kuurne.
The Vitorian rider, who will start with his new team in 2025, acknowledged his excitement at this change, which he considers “a big step” in his career. “I am very grateful to the team for the trust given to me. Working with the biggest names in sport is an incredible opportunity”, he said.
Ralph Denk, former rider and head of Bora, said “Oier is still young, but he has already made a name for himself with his pure power. His style stands out in modern cycling: instinctively attacking and moving forward with force.”
“Sometimes it seems old school, but it is successful and inspires me. We can use this power in the classics and in Oier we now have more options for stage races,” he added.
