He Court of Arbitration for Sports (TAS) adopted yesterday a historic proposal affecting the Ivory Coast Federationin favor of Inova Sporting Club Association (ISCA).
The events took place on matchday 22 of the country’s Second Division that the country’s disciplinary bodies forced a replay as a result of a technical error by the referee.
Ligue 2 match in Group A that faced the Yamoussoukro FC-ISCA on June 14 and ended with a 0-2 win for the visitors.
The same match was replayed on June 26, 2024 and ended with a result of 1-0 in favor of Yamoussoukro FC. As a result of this match, ISCA fell to second place in the Second Division, 3 points behind Africa Sports, and were not promoted to the top flight.
On July 2, 2024, ISCA filed an appeal before the TAS requesting that they annul all decisions made by the Appeals Committee and the previous day by the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. So three points were returned which would have allowed them to be promoted.
Both organizations decided to replay this match due to a yellow card because they believe that the referee should have annulled the yellow card shown “inadvertently” to the Yamoussoukro player in the 74th minute of against. Ouedraogo Issa for “violent protest.”
In the CAS resolution, it considers that the repeat match on June 26 is void and confirms the 0-2 victory of
June 14 between Yamoussoukro FC and ISCA which ended with the result, mentioned above, 0-2.
As a result, it ordered the country’s Federation to include ISCA in the First Division (Ligue 1) championship for the 2024-2025 season.
