Adrien Rabiot’s future remains up in the air. The player has been without a team since he and Juventus failed to reach an agreement on a renewal. With no contract in place, he has been searching for a destination that meets his expectations, both sporting and economic, for weeks. One possibility, although remote, is that upon Motta’s arrival in Turin the new coach could include him in his plans. But that possibility was immediately ruled out.
Two days ago, Motta closed the door on a possible return of the French international, with good offers on the table that he turned down. Maybe that option never existed, but journalists asked the coach about it and he was clear: “I hope he finds a team that will make him happy and where he can show his talent,” said the former Barça player at a press conference.
And it wasn’t long before Rabiot’s mother and representative (Veronique) responded, angrily, to Motta’s refusal. “You don’t have to close any doors, returning to Juventus is not an option we are considering,” he told L’Equipe. And he pointed out: “When we make decisions, we take responsibility for them,” he said in reference to the decision to leave the Italian club.
