Hurkacz defeated Kyrgios and will play the Halle final with Medvedev

Date:

The Polish Hubert Hurkacz resisted the thrust and inspiration of the Australian Nick Kyrgios to gain a reliable victory in an intense battle, for 4-6, 7-6 (2) and 7-6 (4)and stand on final of the tournament hallethe fifth in his career and the first in 2022.

The Australian player did not lose service throughout the match, closing out the semifinals with 30 aces. Kyrgios, like a week ago in Stuttgart, is also on the lawn, stuck in the semifinals.

The Australian has not played a final since he won his last trophies in 2019. The oceanic player is still stuck with six titles, paying for his mistake in tiebreaks against a rival who is also promising to serve – twenty-seven ‘aces’- and did not lose face in the confrontation, which closed after two hours and six minutes.

There is no continuity in a match marked by serve relevance, with games resolved quickly and virtually no exchange of punches. Because the Pole is better, more stable on the rest and, above all, on tiebreaks.

Hurkacz will beat the title against Russian Daniil Medvedev, number one in the world, who beat German Oscar Otte 7-6 (3) and 6-3.

Pole was never defeated in a final. He has four titles, all on the hard court. One in 2019 and three last year. He aims to debut his awards in 2022, as does Medvedev, who will face his third final of the season. In the past two he has not succeeded. EFE
