Athletic has made official the renewal of goalkeeper Eunate Astralaga until 2027. The Bilbao club has also decided to loan goalkeeper Berango to Eibar until the end of this season. The red and white goal comes from starting the Spanish team at the U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
“Astralaga is a promising goalkeeper from the Zurigorri quarry with great size (1.86 m). Trained as a child in Lezama, who passed before that through Bizkerre, he became a key player in the rojiblanco reserve team and in his -leaving Ipurua he will have the opportunity to debut in League F, the highest category,” said a statement released by Athletic itself.
The red and white goalkeeper was declared Under-17 World Champion (India) in 2022 along with his club mates Sara Ortega, Jone Amezaga and Marina Artero. So far this year, the one from Berango has also been proclaimed the European under-19 champion with Spain, being designated by UEFA as the best goalkeeper of the tournament held in Lithuania in July.
Athletic’s goal also comes from being a starter in the U-20 World Cup, a World Cup where the Spanish team was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Japan. Now, after his return home, Astralaga will go on loan to Eibar.
