Mathieu Van der Poel wins again six months later!

Date:

Mathieu Van der Poel hit the target again. The Dutch cyclist was the fastest in the sprint at the end of the first stage of Luxembourg Tour, 158 kilometers; a difficult start to the race with two special category climbs and two first category climbs.

It was all on stage and decided in the last kilometers. Two of the strongest runners of the day Mattia Bais and Pepijn Reinderink, who for many kilometers were emptied to fight among themselves for victory.

Both understand each other wonderfully. At 36.4 kilometers from the finish line, they had a 3’42” lead, an advantage that became less and less as the day went on, due to the interest of several teams in catching them. The formation that worked the most was UAE, looking for a sixth straight victory for the Swiss Marc Hirschi that in the end it has not yet arrived, but also Bahrain-Victorius or Lotto-Dstny.

A plugged-in platoon could do more than two single rangers and eventually the Italian and Dutch riders were neutralized. The race runs very fast and decisive with a good finish. After a right-hand bend, where there was a fall, came a long sprint, where Van der Poel will be the strongest ahead of Laporte and Chron.

First victory for the runner Alpecin-Deceuninck since he won the Paris-Roubaix andn last April, on the quality of Van der Poel’s training ahead of the World Cup event.
