Izan Guevara dominated the Moto3 German Grand Prix race from start to finish, leading by more than five seconds over his pursuers. Dennis Foggia and Sergio García completed the podium
Izan Guevara was fastest in Moto3 free practice. From the first session on the track, he showed the best pace of all the riders in the category and the fastest speed. To the point that in the official race it only took him one lap to take pole and set a new record at the Sachsenring Circuit. And that favoritism led to the race. Jorge Martínez Aspar’s pupil was in the lead from the start, a position he has not relinquished. On lap 6 he made a small change of pace and opened a small gap of just over half a second as the group expanded and lost units. And from there, no one could follow him. Guevara reached the second margin on lap 10, a gap that was extended to well over five seconds putting him on track for the final lap. The Mallorcan thus closed his third win of 2022, the second in a row, definitively confirming his title challenge, a fight that is currently two, between him and his team-mate Sergio García.
García always remained in the front positions of those chasing Guevara, although in his case after a much more complicated weekend, in which he never shone. Those chasers became less and less as the laps passed. Seven after the eventual winner’s first piece, five after a fall (by Joel Kelso) on lap seven, and four after Dani Holgado fell on lap 23, three after Tatsuki Suzuki failed to hold, and two on the last lap after Ayumu Sasaki couldn’t keep up with Dennis Foggia and García, who played for the rest of the stage. With the Italian winning after the Spaniards missed in the last corner. In any case, García retains the lead of Moto3 with his third place, now just seven points more than Guevara.
