Black day for cycling. The Netherlands Cycling Association announced this Friday the sudden death of the cyclist Bas van Belle24 years old, older brother of Loe van Belle, from the Visma-Lease a Bike team.
“It is with great sadness and pain that the KNWU learns of the unexpected death of Bas van Belle. We mourn his loss, Bas has left a void in the world of cycling. Our thoughts are with his family, especially his parents, his sister. and his brother Lisa and Loe, along with his friends and all who knew Bas we will remember him as a loving and gentle person, as well as a talented cyclist,” announced by the Association this Friday.
Visma Lease a Bike, the team for which his older brother Loe van Belle plays, issued a statement to the family: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of his brother and his son Bas.”
“Our thoughts are with you and your loved ones at this very difficult time,” he concluded.
