Although they won 4-2 in Bochum this Friday in the so-called ‘mini Ruhr derby’, the Borussia Dortmund starred in what will undoubtedly be considered one of the most unique plays of the day.
I have lost the Borussia Dortmund 0-1 (Matus Bero scored, taking advantage of the ball from Hofmann, in the 16th minute) when the play in question happened. Nico Schlotterbeck sent a bad pass to goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Surprised by his teammate’s action, the goalkeeper tried to dribble and, after failing, the ball was picked up by Dani de Wit to score 0-2. Kobel pointed to himself and took the blame.
However, a double from Serhou Guirassy and goals from Emre Can (from a penalty) and Felix Nmecha allowed Dortmund to come back and the mistake had no consequences for Dortmund, now second in the table, behind leader of Bayern.
