Roberto Bautista ends his journey at the ATP 500 China Open with a second-round loss against Czech Jiri Lehecka by 3-6, 6-2 and 6-1 in a match played on the Lotus secondary court.
After an hour and 40 minutes of play, Lehecka defeated Bautista who was unable to catch up after a solid first set.
Both players come with three previous confrontations, all in Bautista’s favorand the match began as the Spaniard took his chances to win the first set 6-3, breaking Lehecka’s serve on one occasion and staying solid on his serve.
However, in the second set, Lehecka found her best gamewho hit 7 ‘aces’ and proves unstoppable on serve with 92% of points won on his first serve.
Bautista, although he kept his level, failed to convert any of his five break chances, allowing the Czech to level the score by taking the set 6-2.
The third set was decisive for the Czech tennis player, who broke Bautista’s serve twice and closed the match with authority with 6-1, supported by a maximum service speed of 227 km/h, more than the Spaniard.
Lehecka will face the winner of the match between the reigning tournament champion, Italian Jannik Sinner, and Russian Roman Safiullin in the quarterfinals.
Among the main favorites seeking to advance to the next round, in addition to Sinner, are Carlos Alcaraz and Russians Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev.
