Aki Ajo will be the new sporting director of the ‘Red Bull KTM’ team, replacing Italian Francesco Guidotti from 2025as reported by the team after the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix.
The Finn has managed his own team for more than two decades and began an official role at KTM in 2012.when they won the first Moto3 world title on the KTM RC4, in addition to winning two more titles in the category with South African Brad Binder in 2016 and Spanish Pedro Acosta in 2021.
Ajo’s Moto3 team helped six riders make the jump to the MotoGP category.
In 2017, Ajo expanded Red Bull KTM’s representation in Moto2 and expanded the ‘KTM GP Academy’ through the grand prix, while its three other riders in the intermediate division moved to MotoGP and the team won three consecutive titles between 2021 and 2023.

He will take KTM’s representation in MotoGP to the next level,” said the team’s press release.
“It is an honor to be offered this new great role and the opportunity to work in MotoGP with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing. At the moment MotoGP is at a very high level, so we have to continue working in many areas and use the strengths that we need to reach a better level,” explained Aki Ajo.
“This project has many beautiful pieces that are at the top; we have to manage them in the best wayAjo added.
German Pit Beirer, director of KTM Motorsports, acknowledges having “a special relationship and a very close collaboration with Aki.” “So we thought it was the best decision to carry out the MotoGP project, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: he believed in us when we were just getting organized, so the trust is unmatched.”
“The success of his team speaks for itself, he won titles with two drivers in the box in 2025but that knowledge is only part of the skill set you bring with you; “Aki knows our company and our way of competing and I am very happy and proud that we face this challenge together and continue a story that started a long time ago and has already had many successes,” Pete Beirer commented.
