Julian Nagelsmann was surprised by Germany’s squad list for the double match against Bosnia and Herzegovina (day 11 in Zenica) and the Netherlands (day 14 in Munich), corresponding to matchdays 3 and 4 of League of Nations. And he did it by choosing the goalkeeper who should replace the injured one Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. In Germany the election was a surprise.
The German coach, and former coach of Bayern Munich, is included in the list: Janis Blaswicha 33-year-old goalkeeper who is going through a delicate moment at RB Salzburg. Blaswich, who just scored three goals against Sparta Prague and four more against Stade Bresten in Champions League games, was nominated for two games in November 2023, but was ultimately not used.
Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim), a long-time substitute, was also named by Nagelsmann, but the coach has not yet said whether he will be between the sticks for the next two games.
