Soldiers shot at a group of migrants in southern Mexico believed to be traveling in trucks with smugglers. Six people were killed and twelve others were injured. It is said that the people were mistaken for gang members.
According to official information, the incident took place at night near the municipality of Villa Comaltitlán in the state of Chiapas. An investigation has been launched and the two soldiers who fired have been suspended.

According to the soldiers involved, they encountered a convoy of three vehicles during a patrol. They allegedly heard shots and shot. One of the vehicles swerved at high speed.
The migrants were part of a group of 33 people from Egypt, Nepal, Cuba, India, Pakistan and other countries who traveled in one of the vehicles.
